I know its an old TV I bought it from a thrift shop thinking it would work but didn't realize until I got home there was a problem. The left side of the screen is a tad brighter then the right. I was wondering if there is any way of solving this issue?

Thanks for connecting with us here on the Forums. Having the same brightness on the screen would be ideal for a comfortable viewing experience. You may want to attempt a reset of the picture settings to their defaults.
Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens with the Picture menu displayed. Press press OK/ENTER to access the sub-menu. Scroll down to Reset Picture Settings. When you select this option, a confirmation box opens. Select Yes or No, then press OK/ENTER to confirm.
I hope this helps!

I've done all that and changing the brightness and contrast settings. It seems that the issue won't go away.
Well i tried to load a photo here and it won't show. But you can see that the left side is totally different in contrast to the right. If you can see clearly there is a line right done the middle of the screen. I'm not sure if this is a lighting issue, an issue with the screen itself or contrast.
