Re: closed caption

Hi, linda7580,

Welcome to our community, and thank you for that question. I know that having closed captioning on all the time can be distracting.

On the right side of the remote, near the middle, there should be a button that says "CCD." You can use that to turn closed captioning on and off.

Please let me know if you need any additional help or if that doesn't work.

Sincerely,

Re: closed caption

The remote does not have a "CCD" button to cancel the closed caption.  I have a "CC" button on the right, and a "ACC" on the left.

I am trying to remove the closed caption.

Re: closed caption

Hello, linda7580,

Are you using the original remote that came with the television? If so, based on the model number, it should have that CCD button on it. If it doesn't, that CC button may work. Give that a try, and see if it helps.

Re: closed caption

Yes, I am using the original remote that came with the TV, and I have tried the "CC" button, and it does not work.

Re: closed caption

Thanks trying that, linda7580!

While the option Kyle described should be the easiest way to turn CC on or off it can also be done in the ACCESSIBILITY menu. Select the ACCESSIBILITY menu> Closed Caption>CC Off. If CC already shows as Off in this menu, then I’d recommend checking CC options for media you’re watching. For example, streaming Apps like CBS All Access, or HBO Go have their own CC options that may be turned On.

Re: closed caption

I have the remote that has he CC also.  It doesn't work in turning off closed captioning.  I tried to turn it off by going to accessability, but closed captioning is not an option I can choose.  It is greyed out and when I hit the down arrow, it skips right past closed captioning.  Has anyone else found this and how did you fix it?

Re: closed caption

Hello, linda7580 and Beth4,

Thank you for following up! As the closed captioning option on the TV doesn't seem to be the source of your captions, I imagine that it may be the source of the media that has the closed captioning turned on. Can you confirm what you're each watching (cable, satellite, Chromecast, gaming console, etc.)?
