Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

Hi, lmass,

Thanks for reaching out to us aboutt his, and for joining our community. Having your television to dark to view is a pain.

Can you please provide the model number on that television? I'll be happy to see if  can help you find that setting once I have that.

Sincerely,

Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

The problem is that in settings > display and sounds > display, the input source must be selected to access brightness settings but the input 'apps and video' doesn't appear (and that's the input source I need to change - I am not using an antenna, or HDMI, or any other. There is no brightness settings for the TV independent of the input source.

While you're at it, any idea how to change the country? By mistake I selected USA during setup ( but I'm in Canada) and now I cannot access Canadian apps like CTV. In settings > location only USA zip code are possible. Any idea on this issues would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

Hi there, Lmass,

Thank you for following up with us! Please know that our team primarily works with our USA stores and customers. I would recommend reaching out to our Best Buy Canada partners via the Contact Us options listed on our BestBuy.ca site, as they will be best able to assist you with your questions and concerns.

With that said, we may still be able to provide some additional information on these. As for the brightness, I would encourage you to follow the steps outlined below.

Press and hold Home until the Quick Settings menu opens. Select Picture, then adjust the Contrast, Brightness, or Color settings.

As for the country you selected, I was unable to locate any instructions to change this, though a factory reset may do the trick. To perform a factory reset, follow the steps outlined below.

Press and hold Home. Scroll over to Settings. Then scroll to Device & Software. You should find the option there at the bottom to Reset to Factory Defaults

I hope this helps!

Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

Thanks for your advice - press and hold home button gave me access to the display settings for apps and videos. Problem 1 solved. As for problem 2, I hope I don't need to reset to factory defaults. I'll keep looking - please let me know if you find a way. Cheers!

Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

Hi there, Lmass,

Huzzah! I'm glad to hear the brightness steps worked out for you. As for the country setting, try this:

Press and hold Home. Scroll over to Settings, then My Account. From the menu, select Deregister. You should be prompted to Register your device again.

If that doesn't work, from Amazon.com, and follow the steps below.

Go to your Manage Your Content and Devices. Then select the Settings tab. From there, go to the Country Settings section and select Change next to your current country. Enter your address and country, and select Update

Let me know if either of these work for you!

Thank you,

Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

Thanks a lot. Your advice to deregister from the TV menu did not work because the settings menu doesn't list that option. However, from Amazon.com, under content and device, by selecting the *preferences* tab, I was able to enter my address and change the country. This made possible many new functionality and apps on my TV which were previously unavailable. Problem solved! Thanks so much!

Re: brightness insignia 24" Smart TV Fire

Hi there, Lmass,

Wonderful! I'm thankful for the clarification on the menu as the directions I found varied slightly, but glad you were able to find where to change this on your end regardless.

Cheers!
