Hello MRossPSU,
Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!
How are you connected to the Comcast service, do you use one of the converter boxes or does the coax line from the TV go directly to the wall? If the TV is disconnected from the cable signal, does it continue to turn off and on, or does it just show a "Please Run Channel Scan" message?

Jon

It's directly from the wall to the TV, as I'm on campus at Penn State. It does NOT continue to turn off and on when disconnected from the cable and the HDMI inputs will still function properly when it's disconnected from the cable. What it shows when disconnected is just the screen black with the channel number/name description but, obviously, no actual input. There isn't a prompt for a channel search. Thanks for getting back to me.

Hello MRossPSU,
Thank you for responding!
Unplug the screw on coax cord from the TV, and it should stop power cycling. Once it has stopped, while the coax cord is disconnected, run the channel scan to erase the previous channel listing.
Once that scan completes, reattach the coax cord, and rerun the channel scan to find the current frequencies.
At this point you should be back in working order. If not, let me know and we'll see what else we can figure out.

Jon

Hmm that seens to have worked. If it isn't too much to ask, can you give me a brief description of why that worked?
Thanks!

Hello MRossPSU,
Thank you for responding!
With the Digital frequency change, channels actually transmit on anything from 3.0 to 57.6834. Because these channel numbers are occasionally adjusted, if it doesn't change enough to cause the TV to lose the channel, it sees just enough of the signal to get confused and start cycling. By unhooking the coax, and running the scan it removes the previous information.

I can fix this.
When it starts the cycle, is your remote killed?
And the buttons on the TV?
Mine used to do that but I found a fix.
5 minutes (always less) max by phone in front of your TV, and you don't have to disconnect anything
And you will have a functioning TV once again. Guaranteed.

I have a 42' insignia tv and I've had it for a couple of years and now it just decided to start turning on and off. I've tried unplugging it several times from the power outlet and from the back of the tv and it keeps happening. Is there anything else I can try to do?

Hello Anab23,
Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!
What do you have the TV connected to? Specifically, do you connect something to the TV with a coaxial cable (round, screw on)? If so, follow these steps:
Unplug the power cable from the TV. While it is unplugged, disconnect the coaxial cable ( round, screw on). Plug the TV back in and turn it on. Bring up the TV menu and arrow over to the channel tab. Run the antenna scan. Running this scan with nothing connected will clear the TV of any channel info. Once the scan completes, reconnect the coaxial connection. Run the scan again. If you use an antenna or cable box with the coaxial connection, run the antenna scan. If you connect cable without a box, run the cable scan.
