I note that Insignia specifies a storage temperature minimum of 32F for its 42" LCD TV.  That's not very low.  Other manufacturers specify -20F.  What would happen if a an LCD set were stored for a number of months  or even a short while at a temperatures as low as -20F.?

Since I'm not sure which specific model you're referencing, I consulted the manual for a current 42" LCD TV.  The manual states, "Do not use your TV in areas that are too hot or too cold, because the cabinet may warp or the screen may malfunction."  Storage temperatures are listed as 32º-122º F.  It would not be recommended to store your TV at any temperature lower than 32º.
