Issue with NS-SBAR21F20 sound drops out every 2 seconds.

A few days ago we bought a NS-SBAR21F20 soundbar to replace an old VISIO tabletop style.  It's connected to a Westinghouse DWM50F3G1 using the standard headphone 3.5mm to RCA cable that is included.  For the first few days it worked fine, but now every 2-3 seconds the sound drops out and comes back.  Its a fixed cycle, not random.  if you disconnect the cable from back of the TV, you can hear the pulsations as a "buzz" thru the device.  Both the TV and the soundbar are plugged into an APC UPS, which also supports the cable box (which is connected to the TV via HDMI).  Unplugged everything and let it sit last night, powered off the sub, but the problem persists this morning.  Tried plugging headphones direct to the TV - the issue does NOT happen on headphones.  The standard TV speakers work fine too - eliminating the source sound.  Is there another type of reset I should do - or is this a return to store and get another type of situation?
