Insignia sound bar won’t connect to Insignia TV

I just purchased the Insignia Soundbar model NS-SBAR21F20 and an Insignia Tv model NS-50DF711SE21. When I tried to connect the sound bar to the tv, via optical cable, I can’t get any sound to come from the speakers. I double checked the connection of the cable. I switched the audio settings to PCM (per instructions from the tv manual and sound bar manual). I still can’t get it to work. Any suggestions?
