I have a new Insignia 55" TV and purchased a USB LED strip to stick on the back for some ambient light. The idea is you plug the strip into the USB port on the TV and the lights come on when the TV is turned on and then go off when the TV is turned off. Simple.
Got everything hooked up and turned on the TV -- the LEDs came on as expected. Hurrah! Turn off the TV, the LEDs stay on. Hmmm... about 10 minutes later the LEDs finally go off. A litte strange, but I can live with that. In the middle of the night I'm woken up and see an unexpected glow in the next room; the LEDs are back on again without anyone interacting with the TV. They go off again in a bit, and then later here they come on again.
As far as I can the the USB port on the device randomly turns on and off even when the TV is not on. I've done this for several other (non-Insignia) TVs without any issue whatsoever, but the Insignia refuses to adhere to what I believe is normal behavior.
Is there a firmware update or a setting I missed somewhere that will cause the USB port to be powered in a rational fashion?

Hey, klobetime,
Welcome to our community forums. I hope this finds you well.
Sounds like you've done everything possible in this setup. I would recommend you check in with Insignia for support here.
All the best!

An update. Working with Insignia support -- very nice folks, but no solutions. They can't seem to answer the simple question of "is this normal or not?" I noticed that not only the USB powers up and down randomly, but so does the sound bar. They are sending someone to my house to take a look, but I think it is a Geek Squad person so I'm not expecting anything useful. Looking more and more like these TVs aren't ready for prime time. Disappointing.

So, a Google search brought me here as I have the exact same TV and the exact same issue with my LED's. Reading through this it seems like I'm going to get nowhere with this though and I'm definitely past the point of being able to return this thing
