I recently bought a component video/audio cable (5 connectors) for my parents' NS-28D310NA15 TV after realizing the HDMI cable doesn't support closed captions on DVD's. But with the component cable, closed captions still don't work. The TV seems to switch this feature off when the input is set to anothing other than "TV". I came here looking for a firmware update, as this strikes me as a really simple thing to fix, but am not finding anything. Are we out of luck?? Do new Insignia TV's still have this weird limitation?

Thanks for joining our community. It looks like you're right that this television is only set up to read closed captions from the Television input.
You can give us a call at (877) 467-4289 and we can double-check on that, and ask about other models that we sell.
Most DVDs and Blu-Ray movies come with built-in subtitles now, so you may be able to get by on those rather than by using closed captioning, as well.
