Insignia Fire TV Remote not sensed by tv

Power flickered to the TV last night and now it constantly greys out my screen to tell me that it can't sense the remote. I thought that was because I had the remote in a drawer, but it does it even when the remote is close to the TV. I have directv, and I use the directv remote to control my television, so I don't want a message popping up every time I turn on my television, because then I have to go hunting for that tv remote.

The TV also is supposed to display last input, but every 20 days or so, it pops up with the Home page/menu rather than the HDMI 1 input of my satellite. There's no need for all this. I'm seriously unpleased with this purchase. I won't ever be buying a Fire TV again. So many issues that it makes me think it's very cheaply made and thus glitchy. It's so frustrating because it's just supposed to be a small, no frills television in the bedroom.

Re: Insignia Fire TV Remote not sensed by tv

Hi, chezchuckles,

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you have a couple issues with your TV, and I'm happy to speak to further.

Regarding the remote, it sounds like it may have been unpaired during the tiny power outage you described. Have you tried re-pairing your remote to your TV?

As for the other issue you described, to make sure I'm understanding, you're saying the TV periodically opens to the main menu instead of your last input. When that happens, does the TV properly display the correct input once you select it?

To look into these issues further, can you please also share the TV model number with me?

Thanks,
