How to remember Insignia source input each time

I bought a new Insignia™ - 43" Class F30 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV for my 97 y/o mother. She runs cable into it – that’s all. When turned on, the old set displayed the cable input and it was a no-brainer (dumb TV). Now when turned on it comes up with the “TV’s Main Menu” (for lack of a better description). It shows streaming choices, etc (that she’ll never use). The instructions I wrote for her say, 1) to use the TV remote and press the bottom of the ring 2 times (this highlights the recent HDMI input), 2) press the center of the ring (this says to use that HDMI input), then 3) switch to the cable remote and use as before. She will never access anything streaming, just cable. Yes, the TV is overkill for her needs, but a dumb TV specs aren’t as good.

Even if you use the TV Settings option to select the input, it doesn’t remember it and automatically goes there for the next power on. I think she’s got the hang of it (with instructions), but if anything is different it would be difficult for her to figure out and then be frustrated (and call ME). As a case in point of the technical knowledge we’re working with here, there’s an “All System” button on the cable remote with an oval “On/Off” button. She thinks you have to press the right side of the oval for “Off” and the left edge of the button for “On”. (!)

So…my question is…is there any way this TV can go directly to the last HDMI input without selecting it each time? Or is it too “smart” for that?

Re: How to remember Insignia source input each time

Hello, mo10th,

Welcome to our community!

There is a “Power On” feature for this smart TV whereby when enabled, it will turn on displaying the last used input.

From the Settings menu, go Display & Sounds then Power On and select Last Input.

Note that the TV must be connected to the internet and have the latest update for this feature to work.

All the best!
