Re: Dark screen isssue with Insignia Smart TV with Netflix and Prime

Does the picture differ when NOT playing HDR content? If you truly have the issue, the picture goes very dark when on HDR content but returns to bright when not playing HDR content within the same app, etc. This is NOT fixable by "adjusting the picture settings".

Re: Dark screen isssue with Insignia Smart TV with Netflix and Prime

This is exactly what I have, no matter the setting content like HDR Mandalorian and Witcher are completely unwatchable. It's absolutely absurd. My Pixel 2, old 1080p dynex tv, and my gaming PC of course all display everything properly.

The issue is ovious when looking at a thumbnail whith in the app but when watching the HDR content its completely dark.

Yep that's it. Best Buy should recall these sets. I've said it earlier in this forum thread and told them in person when I returned mine.

Bestbuy would not accept responsibility for the  TV. I was told to call insignia.

Re: Dark screen isssue with Insignia Smart TV with Netflix and Prime

Call Insignia. Go through the dance with them. They will know if this problem, and will probably have you reserve the TV, which is a water of time and won't help. But do it anyway and create a case. They will end up telling you it can't be fixed after talking about having a technician look at it, but there is no fix. Make sure they say it is ok to exchange the TV and that you have a case#. This is a known and unsolvable issue, and Best Buy should allow every customer who has this TV to exchange it. Period. Keep us posted!

RESET the tv, which is a waste of time, I meant. Sorry, typed this up on my phone.

Re: Dark screen isssue with Insignia Smart TV with Netflix and Prime

Why is this marked as SOLVED? It is not solved. As of today, the dark display problem with HDR streaming content is still a serious issue. All HDR content is unwatchable. I am so disappointed in this TV -- it is marked as a "4K HDR" TV but it cannot display any HDR video. Is there an actual true fix or can I return and exchange this TV for a different model?

Hi, all,

As Mariah mentioned earlier in this thread, if you have this issue please contact Insignia support at (877) 467-4289. That team is best positioned to help you out with your screen displaying dark during HDR content.

Sincerely,

Re: Dark screen isssue with Insignia Smart TV with Netflix and Prime

Kyle R, this is so frustrating. Let me preface by saying I am located in Canada. I called Insignia Support (1-877-467-4289) as you suggested. The rep took my info regarding the dark screen with HDR content problem and said they would be sending a technician to my home. Once he realized I was in Canada he transferred the call to Best Buy Canada. I pressed 4 for support with Insignia products and that transferred the call back to Insignia Support (1-877-467-4289) in the US. This is a merry-go-round of nonsense.
