Hello. I have an Insignia model
NS-42P650A11. I am trying to see how to connect to wifi so I can use my firestick.

You connect the Fire Stick to wi-fi not the TV.  Unless it is a SmartTV then you can connect it to wi-fi

I looked up specs on your plasma tv and I do not believe it is internet capable. 

The Fire Stick gets inserted into an open HDMI input on your TV and in turn is connected to your home wi-fi

To set up your Fire stick to the Insignia TV, connect the USB cable with power adapter and plug it into an outlet. Plug the Fire stick into a HDMI port and put batteries in the remote. Power up the TV and switch it to the correct HDMI input. From there follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi.
