I have a 50" flat screen and the picture went black. I called insignia to ask about repairs and they told me its 1.5 years old and the repair would cost more than a new tv. I explained that I did not expect to replace a 50" tv every year and a half. From online searches it appears that this is common. I would like to know who makes the screen so I can avoid buying that brand this time. Of course I will avoid Insignia but I think thats a private label Best Buy uses with other brands parts. model # of tv is "ns50dr710na17" is there a way to know what brand screen i have now?

Welcome to our community. Like you, I have the expectation that purchases I make will have a long lifespan and I find it incredibly frustrating when they develop faults earlier than I think they should. I was unhappy to hear you've had this occur with your TV and I apologize for your having been disappointed.
Insignia TVs are designed and manufactured to our specifications by our Best Buy Brands team. With apologies, information about partners involved in the manufacture of individual components used in the construction of Insignia TVs are not available.
Please know I am grateful you wrote to us and for your feedback on Insignia TVs.
