"robot voice" on my Insignia 22" TV

I just set up my new Insignia 22" tv, Model  NS-22D420NA18.  I used the "Voice prompts" to guide me through setup.

I used HDMI to connect the TV to my cable company's HD box.  Therefore, I use the CABLE company's remote control to Power On, change channels, Mute, and Power.  However, whenever I use the Power On, Mute or Power off  functions, the "robot voice" announces "Power On", or  "Mute On", etc.   The "robot voice" also happens if I use the Insignia Remote to Mute, Power On,  and Power off.

HOW DO I TURN OFF THIS VOICE ?

The voice does not happen when I change channels or volume.

Thanks !

Re: "robot voice" on my Insignia 22" TV

Greetings CPinNY,

Thank you so much for joining our community for assistance on troubleshooting your new Insignia TV. I’m sorry to hear that automated voice is annoying, and you don’t know how to turn it off. I'd be a little frustrated too.

Have you taken a peek into your TV’s menu options for sound? This feature is considered an accessibility feature often called a narrator. I took a peek into the product’s owner’s manual and I was unable to determine a path to turn it off. If you don’t see an option to turn off that feature in the menu setting Insignia’s Support team at 1-877-467-4289 would be happy to help you further.

If you do find a resolution, can you please share it with the rest of our community? Doing so will allow other customer’s with similar issues to find the answer too.

Respectfully,

[ Edited ]

I also contacted INSIGNIA, who sent me this response.

Dear Carol,

Thank you for contacting Insignia Products, my name is Deneb. I'll be delighted to address your concern about your TV.

Your TV provides audio descriptions of menus and some remote control functions. Depending on the broadcaster, audio narration of key elements in programs may also be available. Please use the TV remote control and follow these steps to turn off this feature:

1. Press MENU.

2. Press the right or left arrow to highlight ACCESSIBILITY, then press ENTER.

3. Highlight Voice Guide and press ENTER. Use the right or left arrow to select OFF and press ENTER.

4. Press EXIT.

Note: If your remote control model number is NS-RC4NA-18, you can also press ACC to open the Accessibility menu. The model number is on the front of your remote control

Also, attached you will find a copy of your product's user's guide. Since this stand is one of our newer products, it has not yet been added on our website, rest assured that we will escalate this issue to ensure that it appears on it as soon as possible.

Please let me know how the instructions to turn off the voice guide work. I have created this case number for you: {removed per forum guidelines}.

Kind regards,

Deneb

Re: "robot voice" on my Insignia 22" TV

I did find it odd that there was no manual in the box with  the TV, or online, which is why Deneb sent me a PDF file with the manual.   I also had NO idea what the ACC button on the Insignia remote was for.  I  kept trying to solve this by going to the SETTINGS, then AUDIO option, but this was no help.
