I was wondering what difference it makes for the plasma to have 720 vs 1080? We are looking at a 40"-47" and will have it on the wall. Also what brand is the best?
Thanks,

Hey Pjohnston11,
The designations 720p and 1080i reference the number of pixels on the shortest side of a television. A pixel is one of millions of dots that make up the picture on your TV. While 1080i includes more pixels, 720p has a progressive-scan feature that creates smooth images. 1080p combines the features of both the 1080i and 720p. With a lot of HD signals you won’t be able to see the difference, but if you have a very large screen and intend on utilizing sources like blu-ray or PS3, 1080p may deliver the best quality picture you’re seeking. If you want more detailed home theater info, there is a lot of great information on BestBuy.com
As far as what brands are good, I would say it really depends on your personal needs and wants, as well as your personal aesthetic. I would suggest trying out brands you have had a good experience with in the past. There are many great televisions out there.
Have fun with the experience!
