We got a set of bose speakers, plugged everything in as instructed but there is no sound coming from the cable box. Got a new cable box and hdmi cable, still no sound. The bluray works great. What gives?

YOu need an amplifier to drive the speakers...

Most of Bose speakers systems are powered. What do you have the speakers connected to? A receiver or directly to the TV. How are they connected?

It's connected to a Cinema II Series that has the acoustamass subwoofer with module, they are amplified. Seems that you cannot connect 2 devices to this. I'm connected with an optic from TV to module, should be able to get sound from both the blue ray as well as the cable box as they are connect to the TV with hdmi cables.

Since the Bose Cinemate Series II speaker system has only one usable active digital input.... the easiest way to have both the Blu-ray player and the cable box playing in the Bose without having to keep switching the optical cable back and forth between the two sources, is to have both of those devices hooked into the HDMI inputs on the TV and just have the Bose's optical cable running from the optical out on the TV into the optical input on the Bose.

Sorry I just realized you already did that after re-reading the thread. They're right it should be the settings on the cable box!

You can get an inexpensive S/PDIF switch and use a single S/PDIF outut cable to the Bose Cinemate II and plug a few SPDIF devices into the switch they are ~$24.00 or less .
