Hey hickbubble,
You certainly can connect a stereo receiver to an HDTV! In order to do so though, you would need to know what kind of connections your TV and the stereo receiver are able to support. Most newer HDTV's and home theater systems will support a combination of HDMI, component, digital optical, and digital coaxial cables, but keep in mind that not all models will support all four options.
If you'd like more information or suggestions, you may wish to check out our Home Theater Resource Center on BestBuy.com. There you should be able to find helpful FAQ's, walkthroughs and even troubleshooting guides for several common home theater setup problems.
Hope this helps you out!
