Sounds like a good plan.
Unfortunatly the smallest TV Best Buy carries at this time is 28"
However, what I did for my daughter was I purchased a computer monitor. Most if not all computer monitors have an HDMI input on the back. So you can plug in your DirectTV and or DVD player.
The drawback is computer monitors do not come with speakers. So I had to purchase her a set of computer desktop speakers to go with it.
