Yamaha HTIB YHT-5960U / RX-V4A: ALL / VRR Update?

Let me preface with I've been really enjoying this system.

My one issue is the SLOW rollout of many of the advertised features via a series of firmware updates.

I can happily say that here in August of 2022, the unit finally supports most of the promised features - the most important being 4k 120hz / 8k 60hz  Dolbyvision / HDR 10 HDMI 2.1 pass through.  I can now run my both next gen consoles and Apple TV 4k at HDMI 2.1 speeds through the receiver and to my Bravia which for some reason (Sony gonna be Sony) only has TWO HDMI 2.1. ports.

Still waiting on virtual refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM) functionality.  I've had the unit almost a year and it was released to the public two years ago.  I think this is an outstanding issue across all of Yamaha's 2020 recievers but I could be wrong.

Anyone updates as to when this functionality can be expected?

Re: Yamaha HTIB YHT-5960U / RX-V4A: ALL / VRR Update?

Good Afternoon, mantoothsean.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm glad your are enjoying your Yamaha receiver. I used to own one myself, and I can say with confidence that they are built with quality in mind. There currently isn't any information pertaining as to when the Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode will be added to the RX-V4A and other Yamaha receivers. On Yamaha's official website it currently states that the support is there for when the feature is released, but it will arrive in a future update. As to when that update will be, that information has not been disclosed by Yamaha. Here is the official product page for your receiver: https://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio_visual/av_receivers_amps/rx-v4a/index.html#product-tabs.
