When will stock of Home Theatre Receivers replenish?

Unless you have been shopping for a home theatre receiver you may not have noticed stock of these units has been ridiculously low to nonexistent for the past year. Particularly models in the Denon line have been harder to find in stock but really most brands in general. The root cause has been said to be covid which makes sense. Short supply of components and much higher demand due to people entertaining at home vs. going to theaters.

But now I am starting to see some Denon models back in stock - especially higher end modes - but the prices seem a lot higher and no sales whatsoever. When will this return to “normal”? Most other things seem to be getting back to normal now. What about the AVRs? Is something still holding this back? Any insights?

Re: When will stock of Home Theatre Receivers replenish?

Thanks I am keeping an eye on this daily. Thoughts on why no sale prices? Is this due to inventory levels? I bought the Sony Strdn1080 two years ago as a gift and it was regularly on sale for 400 bucks then which is what I paid - and now it has not moved from 600 bucks (full retail) for the last year even though it’s now discontinued. Also we’d typically see Denon and Pioneer units on sale. Haven’t seen that since last year ...

Re: When will stock of Home Theatre Receivers replenish?

I hate to use this as an excuse but the micro chip shortage that has console buyers frustrated is hitting up the Home Theater Receiver community as well.

So I guess for now supplies are low and demand has not changed.

I got my current receiver in the fall of 2019 and I am glad I got it when I did.

I have been thinking about upgrading my receiver with my new TV but I also observed there are not a lot of sales.

However, I think we can expect some sales for Memorial Day and or July 4th.

Interesting - it seems that TV and many other electronics were not really as affected for some reason. Major appliances definitely were affected and just seem to be getting back to normal sort of...hoping this also occurs for the AVR market soon - thanks

Re: When will stock of Home Theatre Receivers replenish?

I have been thinking about this

I think a lot of it could be a matter of demand determines supply

To me a really nice receiver and paired speakers is the crowing touch to a multi thousand dollar TV

Most people seem to be going with the speakers that come with the TV or getting a soundbar with a sub woofer.

Receivers are probably  near the bottom of the chain, with computers being at the top.

There was a time when the BB in my town, while not magnolia, had a significant part of the store decidated to receiver and speakers.  Now they have one short isle for receivers.
