Visio E55u-D2 55" Ultra HD 4K TV - Remote & Streaming Trouble

Ok...I'm a tech-dummy.  This is probably elementary to many of you, but it's more like rocket science to me !  I bought a new Visio 55" Ultra HD 4K TV, model E55u-D2 (my first TV purchase EVER), thinking I could stream TV programs, movies, and music on my TV from Netflix, HULU Plus, Pandora, etc.  The markings on the box indicated those applications, but the remote is "basic", and has NOTHING on it but a few buttons for power, HDMI input, volume, and channel (my friend's TV has a button on the remote to select such applications...mine does not).  I read the owner's manual only to find out I need some sort of "smart device" such as a phone, tablet, pad, etc from which I can control the TV.  So now I can adjust settings on the TV (contrast, brightness, etc), but I STILL cannot get to Netflix, HULU Plus, or Pandora.  Can anyone help ?  Thank you.

Re: Visio E55u-D2 55" Ultra HD 4K TV - Remote & Streaming Trouble

Hello Craigenstein,

Vizios are truly amazing! I own one of last year's models, and I love it.

You'd need to download an application that will turn your smart phone, or tablet into a full verison of the remote. Vizio lists the steps on how to do this on their website. I apologize this may not have been articulated to you at the time of purchase.

Click Here to find the instructions.

Fun Facts About Vizio:

Lifetime techsupport is available by calling them, and  their Customer Service Center is located out of South Dakota that averages a 1 minute wait time.

A couple of Vizio's 2015 models were named CNET's #1 & #2 'Value" Brand TV's.

Please let me know if you have any other questions! I'd be happy to see if I can help, or point you in the correct direction.

Kind Regards,
