Hello,

 

While reviewing both of your concerns in further detail, I believe giving Toshiba a call at (855) 527-2411 would be the best option available. Best Buy and Toshiba have partnered together to support select models of televisions that are exclusive to Best Buy. As part of that partnership those teams are here to support those television models from 8 am to 9 pm, Central time, seven days a week. Let us know if they provide any troubleshooting steps or prompts that work out for you guys!

My friend is willing to buy tv off me. He doesn't care if it works through external speakers or not. I discovered LG made a smart TV with Alexa 1080p. 500 bucks but I've never gone wrong with LG. Shoulda checked that out first. Would not but another Toshiba product. Whole thing made no sense. I thank the guys at Best Buy for the support they gave. Always shop Best But for your electronics.

Sorry for all repeats. Don't know why that happened. Anyway, I called Toshiba and an hour later they couldn't tell me anything. Never heard of that before and told me to try optical. Of course did not work. I have a

Hello there,

 

When you connect with an optical cable also make sure you go back to the audio settings and change to PCM. If you are bypassing the audio from the cable box to the TV no sound will come out. You will need to connect the LG Boombox to the audio output on the cable box.

If you need to change the digital audio format, go to the Home menu, select Settings, then select Display & Sounds.

Select Audio Output, then select Digital Audio Format and change the setting to PCM or Dolby Digital.
