Toshiba Fire TV screen flickering when playing videos.

[ Edited ]

This doesnt happen a lot, but when it does, I can never find the right solution online or seem to stumble on the same fix. It tends to fix itself just as randommly as it appears. Sometimes restarting my TV fixes it but not always.

When watching a video, most often on Hulu or Netflix, but at the moment its on Amazon Prime Video. The picture flickers in a weird way, flashing certain pixels white or blue or pink. Pics below.

Is there a real reason for this and a real solution? Tv is about to be a year old.

Re: Toshiba Fire TV screen flickering when playing videos.

Hello, Rachmach95,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community and thanks for taking the time to create an account to share this with us!

As someone who likes to watch TV to unwind, I can imagine how stressful it would be to put on a good show only for the picture to flicker and for pixels to appear differently than they should. I know if that happened to me, I'd be anxious to figure out a fix too!

Have you tried out the tips listed in our Home Theater Troubleshooting Guide? If not, I recommend checking it out as they can help with a variety of concerns. Let me know if you try those tips and need further assistance so I can take a deeper look into possible steps that could help!

You might have noticed that the links to photos you provided have been removed, as we don't allow attachments on our forum. If you still need help with this, can you please elaborate on how the picture flickers, as well as on the pixels that will be white, blue or pink?

Are those pixels always in the same areas or does it change? How often does this occur and how long does it usually last before correcting itself? When you did you first start to notice it? Have there been any patterns you've noticed with how it occurs? The more details I have, the better I can look into this for you.

Cheers,

Just to confirm that I am experiencing the same issue. It's a 55" bought 6 months ago. I will come back with more details.

Re: Toshiba Fire TV screen flickering when playing videos.

Just an update feom the OP: it was literally just the show I was watching. I finished the show just dealing with it and its never happened again. I will say sometimes a green bar sometimes flashes when I'm watching something on Hulu only, but not that often. I think it was the programming of the show I was watching

Re: Toshiba Fire TV screen flickering when playing videos.

Hey there, bogifl,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community! We want your TV to be a source of relaxation and enjoyment, and I know that can be hard to do when the picture if flickering and pixels are appearing as colors they shouldn't. I know that would cause me to be concerned, so I'm glad you decided to reach out about it.

I see that Rachmach95 came back saying that those issues only happened with a particular show. Have you tried watching different programs to see if that's the case for you? If it seems like it's your TV and not just what you're watching, I'd be happy to look into possible troubleshooting steps that could help.

Before I do, could you provide me with more details about what you've been experiencing with your TV, as well as any steps you might have tried to correct the flickering? It would also be helpful if you could provide more details on the model of TV that this is happening on.

Cheers,

Model 55LF711C20 Rev.C

As of today it only occurs when watching "The Wilds" on Prime Video, several episodes. It's consistent, happens often at various moments. It lead me to believe that it was not a TV but a show problem, but then I watched the same episodes on a Roku device and the problem did not show up. And, as the OP noticed, it's not actually screen flicker, but certain pixels becoming white, or sometimes green. It's as if color components are suddenly turned on or off for no good reason.

Re: Toshiba Fire TV screen flickering when playing videos.

Thanks for that additional info, bogifl!

At this point it does seem like the flickering picture and pixel issues you've been experiencing are due to the show you're watching. That said, if you encounter anything like that while watching another program, please let us know so we can look into possible options to help!

Cheers,

Re: Toshiba Fire TV screen flickering when playing videos.

Hi there, Matthewslos68,

Welcome to our community! Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. I can totally understand wanting to check on what may be causing this issue, or how to resolve this. Have you had the chance to follow the steps outlined in our Home Theater Troubleshooting Guide? For clarification, was this happening with any show or movie you were attempting to watch, or just particular ones?

Best Regards,
