The Fire TV remote coming with my 55 inches Toshiba Fire TV obviously has an IR signal connected to the power button. I tried to train my Polk Surround Bar 3000 with that remote and could only train it for power On/Off...
The remote is Bluetooth, but it also has IR, at least for the power button. Is there a way to have volume up/down and mute also emit signal on the IR of that remote? Or is the IR emitter hard wired to the power on button only? I know for a fact the power button only emits IR, not radio frequency because the power On button needs a line of sight with the TV to turn on, while I do not need a line of sight if I use the Home button to turn it on...
So the goal would be to control the volume up/down and mute of my Polk Surround Bar, which only accepts IR signals, using the Toshiba Fire Tv remote. At the moment, I can only control power On/Off on the Surround Bar using that remote.

Hey there, emonette123,
Welcome to our Best Buy forum community! I know I'm a fan of having one remote to control both my TV and sound bar, so I can understand why you'd want to do that as well. I'd be happy to see how we can help you with that! For us to get started I would just need some more details for me to look into possible options to assist.
You mentioned that the TV is a Toshiba, but can you provide me with the exact model of Toshiba TV that you have? Once I can track down the type of remote that came with your model of the TV, I can better look into what options we might have.
Cheers,

Thanks for getting back to me with that additional info, emonette123!
After doing some research into that model, I'm seeing that the remote that came with your Toshiba 55" Class LED 4K UHD Smart FireTV Edition TV does not offer the functionality you're trying to use it for. I know that's not the answer you were hoping for, but I was able to track down a product that should do the trick!
The remote included with the Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and Controls can learn the TV and soundbar IR codes, so it can be programmed to work with both of those products!

How is the Fire TV Stick remote different from the Toshiba Fire TV remote? Both of them have volume controls, both of them can generate IR signals. It looks to me they just forgot to provide a way to enter a IR profile in the remote. If so, I do not really care which IR profile I put in the remote, as long as there is a profile in. I have to teach my sound bar, any IR profile would do.
The menu to control other devices is missing from the Fire TV settings, that menu exists for fire TV sticks. I would be curious to see what happens if I pair a Toshiba Fire TV remote with a Fire stick and then just go to appropriate menu and input a Toshiba IR profile... It might be worth a trip to Best Buy, or to anybody owning a recent fire TV stick...

I can understand why that would be confusing, emonette123!
I'm glad you let me know you still had questions so that I can clarify. While the Fire TV Stick is similar to the Toshiba Fire TV remote that came with your TV, the remote that came with your TV doesn't have the firmware that is needed for you to be able to connect to both your TV and soundbar.
However, the Fire TV Stick has the firmware needed to work with the Infrared Signals. That way you can use it for both your TV and soundbar! I know it's disappointing that the remote that came with your TV doesn't include the feature you were hoping for, but I do think you'd be really happy with the Fire TV Stick I recommended.
Cheers,

Just a note: you cannot pair a new tv stick remote with an older Toshiba FireTv. You can pair the old remote with the TV stick, but pairing will just not work on the Toshiba Fire TV. So Elle solution is not a solution.
