Had same issue where remote would turn tv on and nothing else. To fix it I simply held the select/ok/middle button and the play button together for 5 seconds or so until the tv said it was restarting, tv restarted and remote fully works again.
I will try that simplified step next time. Thanks! Also, I found that I could skip all the steps and simply hold down the 3 buttons simultaneously for 15 seconds and it would then work. But I could sure use that extra 10 seconds you showed me. Hope it works for others too.
