New tv and I can't get certain devices recognized by the HDMI input. I have three devices - Chromecast (2nd gen), Nintendo Switch and XBox One. These all worked fine on my previous TV. I don't believe that it's the ports because the Chromecast has worked in two ot of the three ports so far and neither of the others have worked in any. I'll try a differenct cable tomorrow but I was wondering what else I should look at. I also changed the ports to HDMI 1.4 (or whatever) from 2.4 and there's not change.

Hey, lumpy88 –
Thank you for your post! We do appreciate it. Not being able to use a certain HDMI would drive me crazy. I personally have experienced a faulty port prior and it’s really the pits.
It’s possible that the HDMI ports could be defective, but that tends to be rare. How did trying a new HDMI cord work out for you? Can you please confirm the model number of the TV? Any of the devices are you trying 4K? I look forward to your reply to learn more about the issue.

I apologize, I should have updated this. Turns out I"m just dumb. I had moved everything from where the previous tv stand was to the other side of the room and apparently didn't plug everything back in correctly
(different issues for each device but equally dumb)...or at all. It's all good now. I appreciate the response.

We’ve all been there! (I did a similar thing a few weeks ago during cleaning and I couldn’t figure what input my HDMI switcher needed to be on.) Thankfully, it was an easy fix for us both. Thank you for sharing an update with us. Please don’t hesitate to reach out again if something come ups, we’re always happy to see how we might be able to help.

I am having a similar issue with a new 49LF421C19. Out of the box setup and plugged cable box into HDMI 1...no signal. Plugged into HDMI 2...no signal, plugged into HDMI 3, finally signal and all works good. Same cable was used in all cases. I tried to plug a DVD player into HDMI 1 and 2 and am still not able to get any signal on those inputs. I then ran a composite cable from the DVD player and was able to get a picture on the composite input but was all glitches out and could not make out the picture. It appears that HDMI 1 and 2 ports are simply not working. Is there anything else to try, or should I box this up and take it back?

Hello jbcrofton,
Thank you for sharing which troubleshooting steps you’ve taken already! That can really help us cut down on the questions we’ll ask to help eliminate culprit that’s causing the issue. We’d be happy to see what suggestions we can make for you and your 49” Toshiba TV.
Can you please try to power cycle the TV and reset it back to the factory settings? These steps would clear up any technical related issues that may in play. If doing those two things do not resolve your issue then it’s probably internal hardware issue with a faulty HDMI port.
