Well by doubling up I think she means using the old fashioned "RCA" style audio out connectors which are typically red and white, left and right.........I mistakenly replied above that I could not do that howver my AV home theater /surround sound receiver DOES have thoe connections as does this Toshiba FireTV.  I did a test last night.  I switched to live antenna fed TV and hit pause, (yes you can do that with the tv just like cable/satellite DVR) and left it on pause for about 4 min.   After hitting pause again to resume,  LOUD screeching noise.......so this means that the problem/bug is NOT just with the Amazon Fire interface alone but the TV in general.   Doubling up would NOT likely solve this and this HAS to be a firmware/software BUG.  Since it obviously affects regular tv and not just Amazon Fire, I'm thinking that Toshiba will need to release a firmware update..........then again, this TV is Amazon exclusive even  though it's a Toshiba, and sold exclusively by Amazon and Best Buy................  perhaps Amazon would do the update but it could also fall on Toshiba.   Can someone help us with this?

Hi Mariah, as you can see, another user posted the same experience as I did. I received a software update yesterday but it did not fix the problem. It was it was an update for the remote. I tried pausing LIVE antenna fed TV and have the same problem there so it's not a bug with the Amazon Fire TV interface alone................I'm planning on stopping in my local Best Buy store on Saturday and see if I can talk to anyone on the Geek Squad, I did purchase the 2 yr warranty with this............. but again, I'm certain it's firmware, although it very well could be hardware............ time will tell.

Wanted to let you know I have a similar problem with volume on my 55" Fire TV. Mine happens when I turn off the TV while playing a stream, then turn it back on again. For me, the volume ends up louder than when I turned it off, and the only way to fix it it "restart" the TV (which fully reboots it). Since the way the Fire TV "turns off" is not really turning off but existing the app mid-stream and go back to the home screen when you turn it on... I have a feeling this is more related than it may sound.
