Toshiba 43LF421U19 remote slows down wifi connection?

I recently moved and my tv is now too far away from my router to plug in directly. I started experiencing severe lag and buffering even spotty wifi connection for the first week. Coincidentally my remote battery died (first time replacing batteries) and I started using a remote app on my phone. My tv started working fine; no buffering, consistant WiFi connection etc. Once I put batteries back in my remote the WiFi issues came back.

Is this normal?

For now I am using my phone but this isn't a permanent solution as this tv is in my family room and my kids aren't getting my phone so they can watch tv.

Re: Toshiba 43LF421U19 remote slows down wifi connection?

Hello, TippLite,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community!

I love to unwind at the end of the day by watching a good show, but I know that can be difficult when what you're trying to watch keeps lagging. That's never fun! While I'm happy to hear that you were able to use your phone as a remote for faster results, I understand that's not a long-term solution when you have kids in the house that don't have access to the remote on the phone.

From what you've said, it sounds like the problem is there being a lag when the remote is trying to communicate with your TV. To fix that, please follow the following steps:

  • Take the batteries out of the remote.
  • Press down on the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Press down on each button on the remote several times rapidly (as sometimes something will get lodged in the remote buttons and disrupt the signal for all the button functions and that should help dislodge anything causing problems).
  • Put the batteries back in the remote and see if the problem is fixed.
  • If you're still having trouble with the remote, take the batteries out and start over, as sometimes it can take two or three times of doing those steps before seeing results.

I hope that helps!
