TCL series 6 65 inch -Roku remote-TV issues right out of the box

I took delivery on my new TV on 11/24/2021.  We unboxed and set-up today.  The remote does not work!  We have had Roku for may years so fully understand how the remote is suppossed to work.  I have to press the volume, channel or any navigation button many times for the selection to engage and then it skips around which made it nearly impossible to do the basic set-up.  What should have taken a few minutes took far longer due to the sketchy remote.  Although the TV indicated that the batteries were fully charged, we replaced them with brand new batteries and we rebooted the TV as recommended in the product manual for remote issues.  My fear is that it is the signal receiver rather than the remote.  The signal receiver that is presumably located at the middle bottom of the TV flickers when a remote button is pressed but does not engage the command until the button is pressed multiple times (very aggrivating).  It seems that the simplist approach would be to try a new remote.  To clarify, we put in the batteries that came with the remote but after the remote clearly was not functional, we replaced those batteries with new and verified good with the same results.  I can pick up a remote at Best Buy if one can be provided or mailed to me QUICKLY and it will function as it sould.  If a remote replacement will not fix the problem the TV will likely need to be picked up at my address for return.  If syncing a new remote to the TV is in any manner difficult a BB store representative may want to guide me through this.  I love the Roku that we have had for years as it has worked flawlessly and never had any remote issues.  This remote or TV is clearly defective.  Hoping it is the remote.  I would like this resolved quickly as time is money and I do not feel that it is my job as a consumer to have to troubleshoot a brand new TV.  Please advice... {removed per forum guidelines} text/cell

Honestly, I think there is little more dissatisfying than having a new product not work as expected right out of the box. I've had it happen too and i regret your having to cope with such concerns.

While you wait on a solution from John you can actually use your tablet or smart phone as a temporary replacement for your remote. Just download the ROKU app and sign into it with the account you use on the TV.
