I have an LG soundbar that's worked on a tv for about two years. I changed it to a different tv and now it turns on by it's self all the time. It will turn off in about a minute because the tv is off and it's not getting a signal. If i unplug the optical cable it won't do it. Only when the cable is plugged in.

Is your new TV on a universal remote that you're using for something else? It's odd that your LG soundbar is trying to turn on when it's not necessary. Something is occuring that's indicating to your soundbar it may need to be used.
Is your sound bar plugged into a surge protector? What kind of new TV did you purchase?

I don't have a universal remote. It was plugged into a surge protector then i read somewhere to try not using the surge protector so i plugged it into the wall and it still comes on by itself. I tested with other remotes in the house and none of them turn it on. I thought maybe a neighbor's remote might be causing it but if i turn it off right after it turns on it doesn't turn back on right away. As long as i don't have the optical cable plugged in, it won't turn on. The new tv is a Sony 4kHD.

Update... The soundbar also wasn't very loud. I hooked up a different soundbar which also wasn't very loud. I chatted with Sony support and we fixed the loudness problem by resetting the tv back to the factory defaults. The new soundbar also turns on by itself even after resetting the tv. After chatting with support for 45 minutes and being very happy we got the sound problem fixed, I didn't think about asking about the soundbar turning itself on issue.

The only thing I can think of is either it may need a firmware update. Or by chance is it plugged into a Cable box? If it is, what can be occuring is your Cable provider can be running an update which can cause your soundbar to think it needs to be turned on.

Hello I am experiencing the same issue with my LG Soundar connected to my Sony 4K TV, last night it woke me up at 2:20am and then again at 4:45am and then again around 9am it randoml;y starts playing music. Is there any resolve to this issue?
