Sony XBR-75X800G motion blur with sports

Hi,

I purchased a new Sony XBR-75X800G at Best Buy 2 days ago. Mostly, the picture on the tv is great, but when watching sports, it blurrs. So, i turn off motionflow and Cinemotion, no luck. I had updated the tv with software update.
Any other suggestion, i really like this tv and don't want to return it.

Re: Sony XBR-75X800G motion blur with sports

Hi there, usarif,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community!

Getting a new TV is a big decision, so we're honored that you came to us for this important purchase. That said, we want your TV to work for you and your viewing needs, so I can understand why it would be frustrating for the screen to get blurry when you're watching sports. That doesn't sound ideal, but we're glad that you came to us to explore your next options!

Here are some troubleshooting steps that could help:

  • Check out the settings of your TV to ensure that the picture you’re seeing isn’t being stretched, as that can cause the picture to blur. A good way to see what setting is best for your screen is by cycling through different image sizes with your remote’s “aspect” button, or change your TV’s settings to show standard-definition channels at their native resolution. This can make it so that you'll see black bands on the sides of your image.
  • Play with your TV’s sharpness and picture modes to see which one is the best fit. We recommend that you do this test on a channel with lots of movement, such as a sports channel, as increasing the sharpness will make for a better picture, but going too sharp can cause moving options to have visible trails.
  • If your TV has digital noise reduction, try turning that feature on, as that could be a possible quick fix.
  • Sometimes it can be as simple as replacing the cord. HDMI cables give a better picture than Component Video Cables. While both should be capable of giving a sharp image, it's a good idea to try an HDMI cable if you're experiencing blurriness.
  • If you're still experiencing blurriness after trying those other steps, try unplugging the TV and plugging it in, along with the TV accessories, into a different outlet or surge protector. The blurry picture could be the result of an electrical interference through the cord.
  • Electric devices near the TV could be interfering with the quality of the picture. Moving them farther away from the TV should prevent other devices from interfering.

I hope those steps help! If you're still experiencing a blurry picture when watching sports on your new TV after trying those steps, please let us know!

Cheers,

It could possibly be an issue with your cable signal stregth. I had a similar issue and it turned out my cable was from the 80's and I had  some 8 splits in my house.  Cable company ran new cat6 from the street to my cable box and the problem went away

Usarif,

While I'm sad to learn that the troubleshooting steps I provided didn't do the trick, I'm glad that you touched base with us so bobberuchi could step in with suggestions.

I hope that your cable company is able to sort this out, but if you still need help after working with them, just let us know.

Cheers,
