Im so glad I found this forum. I felt like I was going crazy with freezes on my brand new 850g. The TV is fantastic but this freezing issue is driving me nuts. At first I thought it was my internet but like so many otheres my internet is blazing fast and direct conneted to the TV. So it's got to be a problem with Sonys software. Even YTTV doesn't work right. Ive spent hours on the phone with Sony with no resolution. I must be black listed now as they just say well we are not sure whats wrong. Sorry.
Is this an Android Pie issue? Did this all start with the most recent android update. Oh and my TV is completly updated to all the latest patches.
Is there a resolution or am do I need to return this lemon and get an Lg or Samsung.

After many calls and hours with Sony, and some gradual performance improvements, Sony claims that my Internet connection is not stable. While it is fast, 200mbs, Sony technician claims it has dropped to 9mbs. I have noticed dropped down to 140mbs. So my current suspicion is that my Sony X950G, being an Android TV, is more sensitive to sudden drops in Internet speed than a regular TV. My Samsung Smart TV works just fine but is not an Android model. My Inernet provider, Atlantic BB, cannot provide a stable 200mbs Internet connection. Currently, the X950G, works fairly well and is frozen only sometimes when first turned on in the morning. Holding down the Sony remote's power button for five seconds, then selecting "Restart" always fixes the problem. The color and remote is so good that I will definately keep this TV.

The ONLY fix I've found is to do a restart first thing every morning.
I'm no programmer but It seems to me that Sony could easily be able to correct this in it's next update.

I did several resets to no avail. I called Sony for assistance and they had me do a full factory reset. What I did before was a reset in the settings, not the same. Sony rep had me hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time in the back left of the TV, and plug in the TV while still pressing down the buttons. You'll see a green light where the power light in the front is. It takes you back to where you first set it up. Then you you have to set up all of your programs again. I did that 5 days ago, and so far the freeze and sync issues are resolved. Keeping my fingers crossed.

One thing to add. I had a Sony 800g before returing it for higher input lag for gaming and for only having 60hz refresh rate. However that TV never froze once and the YTTV worked perrfectly on that set. It's just stange that everything was fine until moving up to the 850g. That's when the problems started. We got the 850g over the 950g mainly for it's wide viewing angle and really low input lag for gaming.

How long after the factory reset did your 850 start acting up again? Tomorrow will be a week since I did the reset and all is still OK. The Sony was not my first chioce when I purchased it back in November. I had actually purchased a LG C9 OLED. But before the LG was delivered I got a change of heart, because I was concerned about burn-in. I owned 2 plamas, A Samsung and the last one a Panasonic. There was always that concern of burn-in. I didn't want to go through that again. I came close to buying a Samsung QLED instead, the only reason I didn't is because Samsung doesn't have Dolby Vision. I think if I had to do it again I would have gone with the Samsung.

I did a hard reset a last week for a second time. I may try the holding down the power button and up volume button reset again. For some reason this set does not like the Youtube TV app either. It's has always been glitchy on this set. Weird thing is that the App works perfectly if I use my PS4 or Roku instead of the Sony smart Tv Android OS.
I hear what your saying about OLED. I too had a Panasonic Plasma. Amazing set back in the day. Just not very bright. Never got permanent burn in but I did get temporary burn in several times that would eventually resolve itself. OLED would be my next choice for viewing angles but I hear Sony is coming out with there X wide viewing for the new 950h being released soon.
