Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

Mine just freeze the video when using the Android smart apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime. It happens randomly and often. Sometimes it will unfreeze on its own. Other times I have to stop the program I'm watching and start it again. I know it's not the WIFI because I have a Fire Stick connected that has many of the same apps and it works perfectly, and I have a high-end Netgear router. There is definitely something going on with Sony's software.

Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

Has anyone tried using a good streaming box/device with the Sony 950g to see if problems go away?

I tried the static ip address also. Working better last few days. Just frozen first thing in the mornings. Clears up after a restart of tv and working ok for remainder of the day. Great picture and color and remote.

Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

As I mentioned before, I have a Amazon Fire Stick. I get many of the same apps on the Fire Stick as with the Sony Android software. I have absolutely no issues with the Fire Stick. Also, I have Xfinity cable with no issues. There is definitely something screwed up with the Sony software.

No doubt about that, but Sony is unwilling to admit it.

Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

Thanks Eddie,

I wasn't sure if the Firestick you mentioned was connected to the Sony or another TV. I have a Firestick connected to another TV in my house and it works flawlessly but I haven't tried it on the Sony.

I'm going to go order one right now, I'm so tired of spending so much money and time on the phone with support because of this FLAWED SONY TV.

If anyone out there is considering the 950g beware, the support you get from BestBuy is nill if you didn't buy their extended warranty. They point you to Sony support who did offer suggestions NONE of which worked. Namely downloading the latest firmware from their website and installing it via USB. Why the heck should I have to do this on a brand new TV when auto updates are ON? They say they are slowly pushing out this firmware I call baloney, I believe they know of these issues and haven't figured them out yet that's why.

SONY you lost my future business.

BestBuy I will NEVER again take they advice of your MAGNOLIA team without doing my due diligence first.

Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

My Sony X950G works great until use the Sony remote. Works well using my Samsung cellphone or Firestick to cast. And, when using the Sony remote, a full restart always unfreezes the TV. After many hours working with Sony and not using a static IP address for the TV, I only have the freezing problem first thing in the morning. So I still use the Sony remote and have not experienced any problems during day and nighttime watching. Have 200 mbs Internet with Atlantic Broadband.

I do now use a static IP address and recommend it.

Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

Sony support took control of my TV and did a bunch of stuff one being the changing of the IP address.

They also disabled or removed, (I dont recall exactly) Samba TV ?

Still did not correct the freezing. The only fix according to Sony is to restart the TV.

Re: Sony X950G constantly freezing up. Tried

Hi there, mywinstontoo,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community!

We know that getting a new TV is a big deal, so we want it to be as enjoyable as possible. That's why it hurts me to hear that you've run into some concerns with your Sony X950G, and aren't getting the support you were looking for.

Having a TV not function as expected is never fun, but we're here to step in and help. I know you mentioned that you worked with Sony for support, but have you had a chance to go through the tips in our Home Theater Troubleshooting Guide? If not, I recommend giving them a try, as they can help solve a variety of TV concerns.

Let me know if those help!

Cheers,
