Sharp Roku 50in Black Screen

My tv has a black screen so I googled and did the flashlight test. Looks like it is the backlight as I can see the menu when I do it and I have sound. The TV was purchased in 2016. Is this something I can fix myself? Not sure if it’s worth paying for repairs.

Re: Sharp Roku 50in Black Screen

Hi, Meldavis5502,

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community! We know that your TV plays an important role in your day-to-day life, so I understand that it's not fun when your trusty television stops working as expected.

While it does sound like the problem is with the backlight from what you've described, it's always a good idea to try out some troubleshooting steps in case the problem is something less complicated. If you haven't yet, I recommend reviewing our helpful article Home Theater Troubleshooting Guide for ideas to try.

If those troubleshooting ideas don't do the trick, and you have Geek Squad Protection or are a Total Tech Support member, a Geek Squad Agent can come to your home to do a diagnostic and repairs since your TV is larger than 42". If that's something you'd be interested in, you can schedule an appointment by calling (800) GEEK SQUAD or (800) 433 5778.

Cheers,
