My TV is a Sharp LC-40LB480U and I purchased it in March of 2017. This issue just recently started happening where the picture is extended beyond all 4 borders. I have searched everywhere I can think to search and checked every setting I can think to check and nothing is helping. I have done a reset and even that didn't help. One other thing that has bugged me since I got the TV....I have never been able to do a channel scan therefore on the menu I cannot select 'channels'. Any idea why it won't allow me to do a channel scan? I tried it again when I did the reset and still...nothing. Thanks in advance for any help.

Good Evening, kelliemurray,
Thank you for joining our community to seek our advice. We’re sorry to hear that your Sharp 40” TV is having some issues. I understand how frustrating that could be for the picture to not appear like it should.
Are you receiving channels via an over-the-air antenna? If you are, you should be able to do a channel scan. Have you tried the directions on page 45 of your manual to scan for channels? Can you double check your aspect ratio settings? (Please see page 42 of your manual.) I know that resetting the TV back factory settings should default it. Also, can you please share if this ratio issue is occurring with more than one content type? Like is happening on all your sources? We look forward to your reply to see what other troubleshooting advice we can share on this matter.
