Re: Samsung TV screen went black

Morning User875560,

Thank you for posting to our community! I’m sorry to hear that your 60” Samsung TV black screened on you. I understand how frustrating that could be.

Have you attempted to power cycle the TV? Also, can you please try a different outlet? Did anything occur prior to the screen going black?

While taking a peek at Samsung’s website. I can see that there was a firmware download made available in December 2016. Do you know if your TV was up to date?

Sometimes resetting TV back to factory settings can salvage a situation like this, however, I’m not seeing in any of the documentation by the manufacturer that this unit has a pin-hole reset option. I’d recommend looking on the back of the TV to see if you see one. It’s possible that one may be present, but it’s not documented in their official documents.

We look forward to your response to continue to help you troubleshoot.

Respectfully,

Re: Samsung TV screen went black

On 11/19/18 I purchased a 32" Samsung LED model #un32n5300afxza from Best Buy in Willow Grove, Pa. Two days later I took it back for an exact exchange because the tv would, at times, have sound but a black screen when I turned the set on. After receiving an exchange for another new one on 11/21, I hooked up the second set and it played and looked fine. After 3 to 4 days later the same exact problem came back........turned on black screen but had sound once a day or so. To get it to come on I have to turn the set off for a minute or two then turn it back on and that usually works. There is no other problem while the tv is on. Knowing that the Best Buy return policy was up (14 days I think) I decided to wait to after the holidays to call Samsung. Samsung sent me to one of their warranty repair centers near me. When I got there with tv I was told unless they see the problem they can't do anything about it. I did tell them that it only showed the problem once or twice a day. They kept the tv for 3 days on their counter and would turn it off and on every so often. Of course the problem didn't show. I picked up the set and was told to wait until it gets worse and bring it back before 11/19 when the warranty runs out. So I hooked the tv back up and the problem came back within 4 days. So that's where my situation is now......wait and see. I don't blame Best Buy or the repair store for anything, but after reading the Samsung pages about this problem it's apparent there is a problem with certain tv products and they are failing to rectify it. Any suggestions?

Re: Samsung TV screen went black

Sorry but no help here. I'm sitting here at 11:05 waiting for the Customer Authorized Service rep, who was to have called between 8 and 10, to call me to provide a 2 hour window for an appointment scheduled for today to diagnose the problem. GREAT picture when there was a picture and my last 3 large screens were Samsungs but I may be done. I've tried the tricks....power cycling, etc.

Re: Samsung TV screen went black

No sign of a pin-hole for resetting. Thanks.
