Samsung Q80R soundbar issues

I have it connected to my Q80 TV and it was working fine until last night.  Now it won't connect via HDMI-ARC, only wifi or bluetooth.  Also, the TV remote no longer controls the soundbar. Not sure what happened, it was working fine for the last 6 weeks since I bought it.

While I wish you were connecting with us under happier circumstances, I'm glad that you took the time to bring this to our attention. It's important to us that you are enjoying your TV and soundbar, so it hurts me to learn that they aren't working together as intended. I know that's never ideal, but I can imagine it's even more confusing when they were working together before.


You mentioned that the remote is not working with your soundbar. Was it working with the soundbar before and suddenly stopped connecting, or has there always been an issue with them communicating?


As far as your TV goes, it sounds like the best way for you to enjoy your TV and soundbar would be to run a digital optical cable from your TV to the soundbar. That would allow you to bypass the ARC function, which can sometimes run into trouble, such as what you're experiencing now. Once you've connected the TV and soundbar with a digital optical cable, you can go into sound setting on your television and select external speakers.


Doing that should improve your experience with your soundbar, so you can have the stress-free TV watching experience we intended when you made this purchase!
