Samsung Model LN32A550

I'm looking at this TV and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it.  I've heard that the sound quality isn't so good, but that doesn't worry me.  This is what I want to know: Does it lag with fast-paced video games?  My primary use for this TV will be for playing PS3 games.  Also, is the new model LN32A650 a significant improvement, or can I take the bargain version without much of a sacrifice?

Thanks a lot

Re: Samsung Model LN32A550

Hey synapse,

If you’re looking to avoid image lag, you’re going to want to look for a TV model with a low response time. This particular model has a response time of 5ms – that’s five one thousandths of a second! This is generally considered to be the current industry standard for LCD TV’s and monitors, but keep in mind that most people have a hard time noticing anything lower than a 6ms response time.

As far as the differences between the LN32A550 and LN32A650 are concerned, here’s a surface glance of what you’re getting by going with the A650 over the A550 based on information provided by the manufacturer:

• Two more rear HDMI inputs
• One rear S-Video input
• Infolink (Not sure what this is, so you’ll need to check Samsung’s website for more information)
• A slightly different remote control layout
• A $200.00 higher MSRP price tag

Are these features worth it? It probably depends on what you plan on doing with the TV. After all, if everything in your home theater system (receiver, DVD player, etc.) support HDMI connections, you may want those additional inputs from the A650.

Hope this helps you out!

Re: Samsung Model LN32A550

Not necessarily true Aaron, this week the ln32a550 is on sale for 699.99, normally 949.99.  A considerable price drop.  Go with the 550, it's a beautiful set.

Re: Samsung Model LN32A550

Thanks for pointing that out HT-Pro!  Keep in mind though that I was referring to the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), and not the current sale price.
