Congratulations on your new Fire TV! That said, the experience you described is certainly not the one we intend so I'm glad you came to us for support. As someone who recently purchased a television, I can imagine how nerve wracking it would be to watch your new unit start flashing red.
Have you checked all of your HDMI cables to ensure they're connected correctly and securely? If one is loose that could be causing issues with your picture. If your HDMI cables are in place and it's still having trouble with the image, please use the “Private Message” option in my signature to send over your full name, phone number, and email address for me to take a deeper look in to our options.
