I own an SH3K I purchased from Best Buy roughly 2 years ago. I'm experiencing the same exact issues. The device will stay on optical for a few seconds to a few minutes and then switch to Bluetooth. I've tried locking Bluetooth but that doesn't seem to work.
The unit worked without fail for ~2 years until a recent brownout. Perhaps this device is sensitive to power fluctuations?

Hi there, Abomlol,
Welcome to our Best Buy forum community!
Although I wish you were connecting with us under happier circumstances, I'm glad that you took the time to bring this to our attention. That said, we appreciate how patient you've been while waiting for a reply. We're currently handling a larger volume than normal, but are working to get to everyone as quickly as we can.
I know that I love to relax at the end of the day by curling up and watching a good show, so I can imagine how frustrating it would be to have an issue with your soundbar get in the way of that. From what you've said, it does seem like that model has a harder time after a power-outage. However, there should be a way to get it working the way it did before.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend trying out the steps outlined in our Home Theater Troubleshooting Guide. They can help with a multitude of TV or soundbar concerns. However, if you give those a try and it's still not staying connected to optical like you want, please let me know!
