Panasonic DP-UB820 Issue

When I have the Audio HDMI on my DP-UP820 connected to my Denon 2808CI and the Video/Audio HDMI connected to my Sony X950H I almost always eventually lose the picture and often the audio as well. If I connect the Video/Audio HDMI to the receiver and the receiver's HDMI output to the TV, it works flawlessly, but of course I lose the ability to play a UHD BD in 4K. I don't believe it is the cables as they are all BJC Series-FE 28 AWG Belden Bonded-Pair cables. Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Panasonic DP-UB820 Issue

This is an EDID issue. Unfortunately the 2808CI is long past it’s prime and with its HDMI 1.3 it will handshake and force the lower resolution on video. With HDMI handshakes, the lowest denominator between the video sources becomes the norm. There are a few solutions, but I’d recommend investing that additional expense into an AVR with HDMI 2.1.

Re: Panasonic DP-UB820 Issue

Thanks for the insight. I ended up exchanging the DP-UB820 for a Sony UBP-X800M2. It has not exhibited any of the Panasonic player's issue. Aside from having to manually select DV, it looks and sounds as good as the DP-UB820- and I $250 in the bargain.
