I am connecting a new Insignia F30 NS-50f301NA22 to an older Bose Home theater system. I really just want to use the system for the speakers. I used a Digital Optical cable from the output to input on the Bose.  I went to settings and changed settings to Digital Audio Format to PCM unable to get sound.  this setup worked on an Insignia that is being replaced

I'd like to ask you a few questions to get a better understanding of the situation. Did you change the sound settings only on the Insignia and is the Bose already setup for optical?

Yes the Bose was set up -- it was working fine using the optical input on the old TV, i didn't change any settings on he Bose
