NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

Can the NS-50F501NA22 use an USB Ethernet switch?

The speed using the built-in port is slow. Can a USB adapter be used to get better speeds?

Re: NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

Ethernet transfer speed is significanly faster than a USB port.

Can you test your internet speed with a computer

Plug a computer into the same ethernet cable and google search for speed test.  The top result should have a blue box to test your speed.  The test should result in download and upload speeds.  what is the download speed?

Also, check the Ethernet cable you are using.  There should be numbers and letters on the cable.

Search the numbers and letters and look for where it says    CAT   after CAT it should have  number or a number followed by a letter.   CAT 4, CAT 5, CAT 5e, etc.  What is the CAT on your cable

If your computer is normally on Wi-FI, then turn Wi-Fi off when you do the speed test.

Re: NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

My question was if my smart tv could use the USB ethernet switch instead of using the built-in option.

The tv connects via wifi. It also can connect directly using the built-in network port but the speeds are to low for my liking.

The tv doesn't recognise the connection when using the USB adapter.

Turning the wifi off doesn't help as the tv doesn't see the USB adapter.

Re: NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

The USB ports on TV is for powering external devices, updating firmware manually and potentialy having the ability to read music and or pictures and maybe video.

I have a portable DVD player that oddly has a USB port AC Adapter and a USB plug with a thin wire for a power cord but I was able to skip the adapter as I found out my Hisense 55" TV was able to sufficiently power it.

The specs on the Best Buy page does not even specfiy the Wifi technology, I looked everywhere. What kind of router do you have?

Re: NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

The router is a C4000XG from Centurylink. There isn't a problem with the modem or cable. They both work fine with another device. The tv's BUILT_IN ethernet port works too. My question is regarding using a USB ethernet adapter that is cabable of greater speeds.

Re: NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

If a usb adapter works it would be slower than an ethernet cable.

My point in trying to help you was to determine if it is the ethernet port itself or the infrastructure leading up to the ethernet port.

Performing the speed tests I indicated are a good place to start, and the model of cable you have connected to it.

Re: NS-50F501NA22 USB Ethernet switch?

As I stated in the original post, the tv won't recognise the ethernet adapter so the speed test is zero.

The speed on the built in port (10/100 speed) is below 100 mps. wifi speeds are 200-300 mps. Using the SAME USB adapter 100/1000 speed) using a different device is 900-1000 mps
