Just opened the box of a 55" Insignia Fire TV - NS-55F301NA22. I set up all my streaming accounts.
In the main (home) menu, color is completely normal.
When I open an app (Netflix or Prime, for instance), the color is completely normal in the in-app menu.
However, when I start a video, it plays in black and white. This is true of every app I've tested so far. What's even weirder is that the in-screen options (like the X-ray feature on Amazon Prime Video) are in normal color, but the main picture remains stubbornly in black and white. I tried restarting the TV and I got one show to play in color, but when I left that program and opened another app, the problem recurs. (Now I'm having trouble finding the restart option again, but that's another issue)
Has anyone encountered this problem? How can I overcome it? It's clearly a software issue, since the TV can produce normal color, it just won't do so when it's playing a show.

Thank you for your recent purchase and for joining our Best Buy Community Forums.
I always look forward to my Netflix and chill moments and therefore share your frustration when finding out that your apps are displaying in black and white. If you get black and white video when you stream movies and shows on a smart TV , it usually means that information stored on your TV needs to be refreshed or the settings may need to be adjusted. You can contact Insignia directly to help troubleshoot the issue by clicking here.

Hey there, I was having this same issue but managed to fix it by going to: Settings > Display & Sounds > Picture Settings, then go through each input you have and choose "Reset", after this the video was in color. Hope this helps!

Best concise and accurate answer. I had same problem. All streaming video via internet (live TV, Netflix, etc) was B&W, but other things on TV were color, as well as inputs. Reset fixed it!
