Insignia Fire TV Sound issue

I've started having problems with the sound on the coax input only on the TV.  It is very faint and has static.  When I stream from the apps it works fine.  I even hooked up a sound bar and it has the same issue.  I tried switching coax cables and the sound would work for a split second before it would go to badness.  Is there a way to switch the coax input from channel 3 to 2?  Not sure if that would help but that is the final option to try.

Re: Insignia Fire TV Sound issue

I am confused so I will try my best to post my opinon..

When you mention Coax cable, are you watching Over the Air channels? Or what's going on here. Many people are using HDMI ports today to output their audio and video picture unless something is needed to relay a signal from a box or other video display device to that TV.

Is this happening in a home or in a business?

Hello, brentkcpa,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

Thanks for reaching out today regarding your TV issue. I know dealing with this type of intermittent issue can be frustrating especially after you have attempted to troubleshoot and fix it. I am happy to assist where I can.

In this case, it is possible that the coax input on your TV might be needing repair or the device that you are using to run that coax may need to be switched out. I would recommend having our Geek Squad technicians come out to take a look at it. Our troubleshooting service starts at $99 and we can get you scheduled for that in-home appointment today if you'd like. Alternatively, you can chat with us to get that service scheduled as well.

If you would like to move forward and have us get you scheduled or check to see if you are still under warranty I'd be happy to assist. Please, private message me with the serial number for the TV, your full name, phone number, and e-mail address. To send it, click on the blue button bellow my signature. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Re: Insignia Fire TV Sound issue

Thanks for your reply.  This is for my home.  I'm using a coax cable instead of an hdmi becasue I have a directv box that I use for several tvs in the house to keep the cost down.  I keep the box in the basement where all the coax cable connections go to each of the different tv's through a splitter.

The sound is fine on the other tv's that this box goes to and I tried replacing the coax for this tv and it is still the same.  It is a fire tv so when I stream from an app the sound is fine.

Re: Insignia Fire TV Sound issue

brentkcpa,

The noise could be caused by the fact that the signal is split so many times or something more complex. We would need to get someone out to troubleshoot this issue for you, or you could reach out to DIRECTV regarding this issue as well to see if they can assist you with resolving this.
