Hooking up VCR to Insignia TV

Old School here....I'd like to watch some of my great old movies in VCR format, so I dragged out the VCR and tried to re-connect it to my TV. Will be using the TV only in order to watch the VCR tape. I have the colored RCA cables, but do I need a coax cable, too? If so, where would it connect in the VCR and to the TV? In advance, thanks.

Re: Hooking up VCR to Insignia TV

I would first try the Coax Cable out on your VCR going to the Coax In on your TV.  It probalby will not work becuase essentially the VCR and the TV may speak different lanugages and the TV will not be able to intrepret the signals.

If that does not work you will need a RCA to HDMI converter.

Thanks for your reply. I didn't think I needed the coax, but several people told me I did. I'm going with your statement...and will take a look at an RCA-to-HDMI converter.
