Working on upgrading old home theater setup, recently purchased definitive technology 8040 series front towers, center channel, and rear speakers. Looking to upgrade reciever, the towers have built in subs but some amps I've looked at have front and rear jacks for subs not left and right. Does it matter or are there some good recievers that have left and right for subs? Was looking at yamaha aventege line.

It doesn't matter if the sub outputs are marked left/right or front/rear, they should just be 1-2. The Yamaha Aventage line is a great choice. I've had my RX-A1010 for almost 4 years and it's a great AVR.

The other top recievers in this category are from Denon, Pioneer, or Onkyo and they make great products but I prefer Yamaha for features, ease of use, and if you like to listen to streaming music over your home network their AV Control app is the best in the business.
