Hello bobberuchi,
How fast do you want to splurge on it? At this time it doesn’t look like either is on sale. To be honest that may become your deciding factor. I did notice that the Yamaha does have four HDMI HDCP 2.2 inputs, but the Denon only has three. I’d be happy to have our support teams review the mismatched specifications for the Onkyo on our website. Thanks for bringing that our attention!

I have put both receives in my saved folder and will watch the price.
As the TV has Netflix built in at this time I only need inputs for Google Chromcast and Xbox 360, then the RCA inputs for my Super Nintendo Nintendo.
I am also going to get a Playstation Pro so I really only need the 3 inputs. But it may be nice to have the 4th one becuase you just never know.
I also am going to be checking the store across from my office and the one near my house for open box receivers.
One of the Onkyo 7.2's was in one as an open box last week and I didn't jump on it.

Let us know once you finally pull the trigger! I’m excited for you and I'm crossing my fingers you find a great deal on an open-box one.

Mariah I pulled the trigger last night. However, not in a way I imagined.
I went in to check on open box receivers.
They had two in on the open box shelf. Both Yahamah. A 5.1 and a 7.2
Neither were HDR but both are 4K.
The 5.1 didn't have a bag with the accessories such as a remote and was priced at $212 . So I went on line to see how much a remote would cost. When I found it in the BB web site it was marked at $119. I found on the Yamaha web sit you can use your phone as a remote.
For $119 what a phenomenal receiver. I could not pass it up. I went and grabbed a new HDMI cable and brought it tot the check out. I showed the CSA the price on my phone and he said not a problem. He scanned the sticker and it came up at $79. Eyes got big. 4 year service plan cost almost nothing.
The other one was
Yamaha RX-V583 It was marked at $279 which I also thought was a good price. I was thinking after I found out the other one was marked down so much further I should have checked this one out also. It did have a bag with antennas and remote.
Thanks for all your assistance.

Morning Bobberuchi!
That’s such a great deal! I’m so happy for you. Now you can tell your wife you saved $200 + on this receiver so you splurge on that Marantz for your main living room. That’s how this works, right?!
Thanks for sharing your journey with us from the research to actually making your purchase. You’ll have to get it all connected and let us know if it’s exceeding your expectations too!
Bests,
