Headphone connection to insignia tv

I'm trying to connect my Sony RF wireless headphones to my Insignia tv (model # NS-39DF510NA19). The headphones worked fine with my old tv and work fine when connected to the cable box but when watching tv with an app (Netflix, etc.)

the sound comes from whatever channel is on the cable box and not the tv. When plugged in to the headphone jack on the tv the external speakers are shut off, fine but I don't want that. When pluggeb in to the rca audio outputs on the back of the tv I get nothing from the headphones. I see no settings in the audio setup that will change it. Any ideas.

Re: Headphone connection to insignia tv

Hi there, 0112leecarr,

Welcome to our Best Buy community forum! As someone who likes to relax by watching something on Netflix, I can understand why it would be frustrating that you're not able to use wireless headphones and have sound from the TV speakers when watching anything other than cable.

In order to hear sound from headphones and the TV speakers at the same time when watching TV or a movie, the source device must have multiple audio outputs. While some TVs have an audio output that can be used to connect headphones, in most cases this connection will disable the TV speakers. I've been looking into Insignia TV model NS-39DF510NA19, and while I'm seeing the option to use headphones, I'm not finding a way that you can connect to headphones and the TV speakers at the same time.

That said, I recommend reaching out to Insignia to see if they're able to come up with with a creative work-around that could allow you to do both. You can connect with Insignia by emailing them here.

Best Wishes,
